Oops, Wrong Base

So I'm out near the Firth of Forth making trouble for the British when I get the message that the base of my flotilla has been changed to St. Nazaire. Great! Too bad the map doesn't have St. Nazaire in red or in blue, only Brest, Bordeaux and Lorient.

I return to Kiel since I don't know what else to do, and lo, I can't access the U-boat upgrade screen or anything other than my own records and the crew. My assigned patrol area is NULL, and I'm starting from Kiel around mid-October 1940, after having arrived on 05 September 1940.

I've tried using SH3C to set myself in home base before patrol 9, but I'm still stuck in Kiel. What the devil do I do now? This is, of course, with the stock campaign.

NB: I jumped into the mission and St. Nazaire is active now, but I'm still in Kiel. Er, is this patrol just going to be one of those where I sail to NULL-land, do whatever, and then arrive at the new port to make everything OK?

When in doubt, just hit Esc and end patrol and it will take you home, from there you should be able to sort things out

Splendid idea. The only other option is running to the randomly-assigned (via SH3C) BE22 and attacking shipping but meh, I'd rather see what goodies might have been cooked up for me. Worth a shot.

Thanks for the hint!

Why not just travel from Kiel to St Nazaire, and see what tonnage you can pick up along the way?

Patrol Grid "NULL", leaves alot of good hunting grounds open.
AM53 anyone? AM68? BF13? Take your pick.

You only loose the patrol grid renown.
Have a ball, and sink 'em all.

Patrol grid is NULL because you are not at home port and the game gives you a chance to sail home with no mission

Stock dates are wrong so you get moved to St Naz before it appears on map
If you had sailed around Britain it may have appeared by the time you got there
Cant recall how far out the dates were
So take your time and sail to St Naz sinking whatever you like along the way
Its all good
