Default Tried GWX3..

Finally got the time to D/L GWX the other day, after drooling over the manual for almost a week wondering if my PC can handle it... little to no change so far. Ports still lag as much as vanilla SH3, open sea still just as smooth as vanilla SH3. Surprising, considering the amount of traffic and ambient ports added by GWX. The seas are much more crowded now but even my weak computer can't tell the difference. Very well done, developers!

Hydrophone sucked before.. now he seems more capable, and the ability to randomly detect things while nosing into a swell is very nice.

Can the planes in the Flak training mission get any more GODLY? Managed to down 5 for graduation, but ran out of ammo on the remainder. Used lots of hit and dive tactics with much success (0 damage to sub but many close calls), after a failed first attempt (dead sub).

Can't wait to get deeper into the campaign now, I'm on Patrol 2 sweeping my way back to Kiel Canal with 1 torpedo left on Sept 5, '39. Hopefully I'll get to use that torp before I hit German waters again, as my log is looking shabby: 1 Passenger/Cargo at less than 2k tons. Had to send 1 more torpedo at her after the first 2, just to be sure because she was goin down sloooooow.

I love GWX so far guys, thanks for suggesting it to me.

1st Flotilla - IIA - Leutenant z.S.
Sept 5, 1939 - Patrol 2
GWX3 - SH3 Commander - MaGui - Das Boot Sounds

All of us are glad you like it.

We spent alot of time trying to make it as stable
on systems as we could.
That was the top priority.

and you've done fine!

since Nov2009 I've played appr. 40patrols.
just one and only CTD (in the beginning before I invested into another 1GB of RAM to a total of 2GB now).
and my CPU is just a single-core Athlon 2,6+

thank you very much!

Many of us had sub-standard systems that we developed on.
I can not even use the 16K mod!
So yes, we took great care on adding or adjusting things.
Throwing a ton of crap at people won't work if systems need to go
beyond the top recommendations for SH3.

At least back then anyway.
Maybe We, as Modders, can push it higher now?
But I'd rather not myself.
You can over whelm the Game Engine.

One option is to take all the exams before installing GWX, but the other cool fact is that they give you the whole 1500 renown just for completing Navigation Training. The rest is unnecessary.
