I would say Tambor/Gar. Reason is that they have 6 bow and 4 stern torpedo tubes against 4 bow and 2 stern torpedo tubes like in Porpoise. Tambor/Gar is also slightly faster (in vanilla game).

Probably the Gar, although the Tambor aint bad either. Both had 6 tubes forward and 4 aft. Also the Gar was the precursor to the Gato, which preceded the Balao etc.

If I remember correctly, the Gar takes longer to normal dive than the Tambor.
I never compared the crash dive. I'm thinking on the order of 2 minutes to get to 60 feet on the Gar. But the Gar seemed to charge the batteries faster for some reason. Take all this with some salt. It could have been because of different crew that made the diving difference. |
