Special Missions?

I keep hearing about special missions... but i have yet to see any.

How did you get them? Was it while in the bunker? From a radio message? If from a radio message, was it right after you sent a patrol report? (I tend to forget to send reports)

I cant seem to figure out why I've never received one. I guess I'm just not special enough.

you get them when selecting certain missions on the map.
