Tried numlock off and on , no different. Also no waypoints set. Really need this key to get away from destroyers bearing down on me.

By default it's NumPad 0. Make sure that NumLock is ON.

Your num lock isn't on man... zero is INSERT with num lock off.. and shift+insert is scope up command...

No, do not use shift............it's just number pad 0, no shift.

Does anybody know why the developers change the key assignments with every new Silent Hunter?

Well, this one was pretty clearly changed to accomadate the WASD for movement. In doing so, it made a lot of sense to change S, D and P (three keys that are quite far apart) for R, F, V which are right next to WASD allowing quick access and make sense for R, highest on the keyboard, being surface and V, lowest on the keyboard, being dive.

Of course that's where logic ends and things get messy.

Is he using a laptop.

Sometimes the keymappings for laptops can be weird.

BTW its just numpad zero no need to press the shift key.

Which model Qosmio?

Or... do you have an actual keypad on the right side of the keyboard?
