Default SH 4 & Win 7

I have today upgraded to Win 7 and had to do a clean install as it would keep on stopping at approx 98% installed on upgrade. I downloaded files nad setting program from MS before hand to transfer files and settings to my external HDD. It worked. I did a full clean install and then returned files and settings to my 'new' pc. BUT ..................... all programs were lost as it was a clean install so the only links that still work on my pc are all my net bookmarks.

I am about to reinstall SH4 in about 5 minutes and was wondering something:

Many people in here discuss loaded mods and patches etc. I ask:

What is the optimum configuration of installed mods? People seen to have diff ideas and it can cause a bit of confusion. Dont do this, load this only, dont load that - what is the optimum?

It depends on what you want mods you want to run.

Precisely, some people swear by one, others another. OK, most accurate mods, least planes and most accurate scenario's.

Incidently, Sh4 1,4 is working perfectly on Win 7

I had the funny experience that JGSME didn't work properly untill I ran it with elevated user's rights on Windows 7 64-bit.

That, and don't install to Program files-folder are the two most important advice you can get. Put the game somewhere else, I have it in \Games\SHIV

I just tried to uninstall my mods, then put them back in (win 7) and it seems to be fine.
