Default WO: Nearest visual contact range at XXXX meters. YEA OR NAY?

How do you like your WO? Human or Bionic?

Yeah mate, I know the menu stuff. But I want your opinion; How it contributes to immersion? Are you using it? Are you using assisted plotting sonar contacts(red-black lines)?

I modded the WO to tell only bearing, no range. And I use a slightly modified version of the old AssistedPlotting Mod with red / black lines.

greetings,
h.sie

The 1.4b assisted plotting mode I suppose. That's very interesting h.sie. The sonar detection range lines are totally accurate?

In rela life he could certainly make very exact estimates at distances less than 3000 metres, and progressively worser the more distant the ship is. Then again he might have used a stereoscopic portable rangefinder, as were foudn many times in Uboats, and that would give him a reasonable accurancy up to 15 km or so, depending on object size, movement, etc.

I ask him for estimates when plotting a target on a surface run to overhaul, and pretend he has such a rangefinder, so it doesn't bother me. Otherwise, when it comes to setting up the firing solution, I do estimates myself, as I'm normally much closer.
