Default Down Periscope Mod for SH5

Despite some minor complaints, I am still playing SH5. After a long day at work I need my WW2 fix before I can relax.

I'm thinking though, they might have done a little better with the characters though. I like the concept, but they seem a little flat. That is why I would like to announce I have begun development of a "Down Periscope" for for SH5.

For those who are unfamiliar, "Down Periscope" was a Kelsey Grammer (a.k.a. Fraiser) vehicle made in the mid 90s. It was written by Hugh Wilson, who created the police academy series; apparently in order to settle a bet with Joe Eszterhas (showgirls, among others) about who is a bigger hack. I don't know who won the bet, but it sure was not a very good movie. However, it's formulaic oddball cast would be perfect for Silent Hunter 5!

Replace the one eyed nazi with a skin of Rob Schneider! A fat unhygienic Ken Hudson Campbell as the cook! We could take an audio clips from the movie so they have something to say:
"There was a FINGERNAIL in my FOOD, ya fatass moron! Yesterday, there was a BAND-AID!"
"Sorry, sir. The band-aid was holding the fingernail on."
Patton Oswalt as the radio man and that goofy looking Harland Williams as the wacky sonar man (you would recognize him, although I can't think of a good movie) And of coarse, the guys who gives the missions will be Rip Torn.

We can finally do something interesting with the crews skills. The sonar man can fool destroyers by making whale noises. Use the Special Meal skill to much and the cook will let off a fart that will give away the sub's position. +3 moral for sexually harassing the female crew member.

I think it can really make SH5 come alive.

That was a great flick.

The characters were pretty far over-the-top, but obviously that was part of the director's goal.

The sonar tech was my favorite.
Quote:
XO: [whispering on the pier] Oh, no. Great ears, sir. Watch what you say around him, he hears everything. His last C.O. thought he was a security risk.

Sonar Tech: [yelling to the pier from the boat] Uh, excuse me, sir! I don't hear everything. And I'm quite trustworthy too.

I second this mod, the crew they made are frickin horrable, I hate them.
the nav officer especially, he's just too old and weird looking, the pirate too frickin' unique, and all the others, just all too unique, too gamey and personalized.

"Overcharge those Diesel Engines"

"Yes Sir"

*Pours in a fifth of whiskey*

"Whiskey, thins down the mix, gives us another 50 RPM's"

Slightly embarrassed to admit I Tivo'd that movie last night. My favorite was the radio operator who kept getting shocked and started calling Cubs games...

Yes, I would love to have the blond bombshell with her perky jugs on display onboard my U-boat!

I'm still amazed seeing her in this movie and then watching her when she was Director Shepherd on NCIS. Doesn't even look like the same person at times

If you want to see her doing something completely different, check out her roll in this movie sometime:

OK, I liked it too and watched it multiple times on HBO. However, that is not because it was a good movie; it was because I like subs and I remembered being on the sub they used at navy pier in San Fran.

WE'll need to flesh out the English Navy too. Max K Horton can be played by a skin of Phil Hartman. Played very stuck up an English. Bet he won't be a match for a crew of wacky underdogs what can use their unique skill to embarrass him in front of the Queen by sinking his new fancy Battleship.
