Default [REQ] heavy storms/hurricanes.

The storms in sh-5 are a joke. I hoped we would get some real storms in sh-5 like in Das Boot. I mean in sh-5 the maximum waves dont scare me. I would like to see some real storms for a change.

Yes, lightning and thunder too, but not often.

I dont know, I've experienced most types of weather in SH5 and i think the storms are pretty good. And yes it rains in SH5, but the drops are a little heavy looking.

But the storms are pretty heavy duty and using with the periscope is a nightmare with huge waves as one keeps breaking lock and having to reconfig firing solution.

What was the wind speed when you took that shot? In SH3 the max wind speed was limited to 15 m/s, which is around 30 knots, or a small gale. Speeds of 30 m/s are needed for a truly big storm. I hope that's modable as well.

I think the problem is less with the storms and more with how the u-boat behaves in the stormy waves.

In Das Boot there is great photography of the boat sort of lunging in and out of the big waves, but to be honest im not sure thats a realistic presentation of a u-boat in heavy weather.

Anyways i'd like to see better u-boat mechanics in the water and i think that would help alot with that Das Boot look.

i also experienced a few heavy storms. With the mod published here that improves pitch and roll the exterior view of the boat looks great.

But it is sad that the boat interior just moves a little bit, even in heavy storms. I would love to see a heavy rolling and pitching boat interior to get the real "storm feeling".

Maybe is isn't possible but it would add a lot of athmospere.

Yes in Das Boot they are sick as hell during the storms and the only releif they get is when they submerge.

Maybe even a script where in bad storms the crew sort of nags Herr Kaleun to submerge for a few hours as the crew is getting bad morale. The morale system could have triggers re the storms? Just an idea.

The pitch and roll sucks in this game even with a mod. It'd be nice if it was a little more rough and realistic.

Not sure which iteration of SH3 it was, but one version had the sub roll at periscope depth when it was rough (internally and externally). It gradually eased off as you went deeper. Very realistic and immersive. I haven't played SH5 enough to know if this is modelled. Probably yet another job for the Modders
