Default Fuel Consumption

Not a bug [ i know makes a change ]
Just curious does anyone know best speed for fuel consumption, tried search not seen anything on this. Ive been using 5kts speed rather than half ahead which seems to drink away my diesels at a high rate. Wondered if anyone has looked into this etc, thanks.

I use half-speed ahead when I'm departing from Kiel or Wilhemshaven, and when I get rebase to Lorient I usually go with Standard into the atlantic. I seem to get the most bang for the buck so to speak from these settings.

Now for the problem of finding any contacts...

10 or 11 knots on the advanced speed setting seems to me to be a good compromise for speed and consumption to me. I haven't done any extensive testing but it saved me about 10% fuel over ahead 1/2 between Wilhelmshaven and the western approaches.

Yeh 10kts sounds good, i was hoping 10kts would be a good safe speed for consumption, as it was in SH3. Will give it a go.

Only way to be certain is to do some quantitative testing with controls.

Frankly I have yet to run into a fuel issue, rather I usually run out of munitions first so I havent worried about it.

It would still be interesting to know for certain.

Where do you find your max range at speeds, and fuel level? Aside from the sub systems page.

With stock game you'd have to run and time how long between fuel meter digit changes and do the math. Otherwise you could probably mod in the "max range at current speed" command from SH4 which would make compiling the data a bit faster.
