In SH3 & SH4 we could tell the sonar operator to follow target and ping for range.
In SH5 my man does nothing but sit there ... if I try to talk to him my only option is to ask him if he is getting harrassed by the crew ... I have 2 icons to "reveal" stuff ... but they are grayed-out (inactive). How do I tell this guy to do something usefull? Why doesn't he ever say he picked up a contact? REgards |

You have to spend expirience points to get the special abilities work.
Unluckily, in the case of the sonar man, I have everything leveld up, but when I click on "reveal target" or the other one, the only answers I ever get is "no, can't do". So the sonar man so far is pretty much useless, or at least I did not find out yet how to propperly work him. |

Did'nt they state that sonar would be more useful for the player?
'reveal hidden ships'-active function : is that something übernatural? |

I thought of having more interaction with him instead of taking his task in your hands. For example why cant i order him to sweep for contacts and to follow certain contact when he finds it. Im missing such basic interactions.

Go to commands.cfg and add keyboard shortcuts to those commands. They still work.

They do indeed work. To bad they broke the sonar with the patch.
