Default Got the game and.....

I'm enjoying it quite a bit to be honest. I'm a fleetboat kind of guy but I can see myself in the blustery North Atlantic once again. The graphics are beyond compare. Specifically the water, explosions, clouds, uboat itself and targets. The interface although quirky becomes easier to use and understand as time is spent with it. It is missing a few items I would like to see but modders are already on top of that. I do like the map always present. TDC is ok. There is a lot of point and clicking. The old carpal tunnel is coming back! The cook just makes stew from the looks of it. When I hit Kiel he is going ashore for a cookbook. I experienced a autosave while in game. That was not only strange but it occurred as my targets were exploding. Kind of a bummer. Please be aware I have played the game for about 3 hours. These are just first impressions. I truly have to say job well done on the graphics. I can not comment much on AI activity at the moment. What I have experiences is SH4 like reaction of AI as it was straight out of the box for SH4. Some mass confusion and ships stopping. Then again, it was the first campaign start and more of a tutorial on TDC so life was made a bit easy on some sluggish confused targets. More later.

Yes the game is far from being perfect.

Good to see there's still few people who know how to criticize without turning the whole forum into a naysaying session.

most of the screenshots i have seen didnt have the nice "real environments" type water colors, can you say if thats just a video card thing or is it not as pretty as the UBI videos when your actually in the game?

I would say what UBI posted for videos is quite close to what the game looks like. The explosions and fire are done extremely well IMO. The smoke is black and thick. It does not drag my system down. As far as explosions they look like SH4 but better and there seems to be secondary spark like explosions as well. Personally I do not see any part of that needing to be modded. The water is similar to SH4 but the water action itself is much more realistic. However under heavy weather and fog the water does that jiggling again. White water around the sub looks ingame as it does on UBI videos. Bow splash remains the same as we have seen in previous games. I do like the water droplets on the scope and binoc lenses. Much more realistic than SH4 rendering. I would have to say hands down that the graphics in SH5 are superior to any we have seen before. Kudos on that developers! UI, again, is not that bad once you get used to it but there is a lot of point and click. Perhaps some more work on the keyboard commands and just the mouse for moving around and use of the peri/binocs only. I see modders are already making new keyboard commands so I wait to see where that goes. So far I like the game.
