Does SH5 have "atmosphere"?

I always liked my subsim, SH3 still holds the crown for atmosphere imo. SH4 didn't quite capture that for me in the same way.

Now SH5 being back in the atlantic and playing the German side what is people's opinion so far on the atmosphere of the game and the sense of being a German U-boat captain.

Thx

Kind of.
When I was stalking a merchant just off the Orkneys in filthy weather I felt it.
But the rest of the time? Hmmmm. Not so sure.

I'm finding it pretty atmospheric so far. I originally had it installed with German voices but found that I wanted to understand the crew when they were chatting to each other (no subtitles for that). Was pleasantly surprised that the voices are German accented instead of the American accented ones that were used in the trailer/intro.

Oodles and oodles of physical atmsophere, geat clouds and water.

But the comical, shallow crew and Star Trek interface kill off the rest for me.

As an example, compare the radio message pop-up window with the one from SH4. Says it all. One looks it was actually typed on paper, the other looks like you're getting email on your phone. Guess which is which.
