I see a lot of ranting and disappointment here in these forums. Reminds me very much about the time when SHIV was released when there even was a schism between SHIII fanboys and SHIV adepts.
Reading a lot of personal reviews I must confess that I doubt if I should keep this game (I got i yesterday and it is still unopened) or return for a refund. On the other hand I know that in a couple of weeks/months time there will be mods that make this -as of yet- clearly unfinished game into a gem. Look what the modders did for SHIV: getting U boats in the Atlantic for a game that was set in the Pacific! As for Ubisoft: they know very well what state their game is in and what is going on around here; they also know what the subsim modders are capable of and that they will take the game to the next level. Although this is certainly not the way things should be done it is also sort of a vote of confidence. Let's all be proud of that! But still; as I said earlier I am in doubt what to do with my copy: if I return it for a refund now, I think/hope I'll be rushing back to buy it again when the first great mods arrive......

You should definitely give it a try or at least keep it around for a little while. Let it collect a little dust if you need to but you already have it so see what happens. Hopefully within a month or two we will all be happy with the results of patches/mods.

Keep it. SH5 has enormous potential as the new mod tools now allows scripting and some other new cool stuff. This allows for way more advanced modding than we have seen so far. And that says alot if we take GWX3 and Monsun into consideration and what those mods has done for SH3 and SH4.
And those are only two out of loads of good stuff ![]()
