Can I hide the digital speedometer?

Is it possible to hide the gta4 mini map, speedometer, status icons, and just about everything else on the UI by pressing the minus key?

I understand that all of the gauges in the sub are interactive making the UI icons redundant and god like. Is there anything displayed in the UI that cannot be determined using a more immersive technique like asking what the depth is or clicking on the nav charts?

I deeply hated with a passion, those pesky icons in SH4. "You are getting close to the bottom of the ocean". I used to drag them under the UI bar.

shift+z hides the entire UI, I don't think there is a way in the game itself to disable individual portions of it.

yes you can. The individual page files are the 'new' menu_1024_768.ini. Edit them like you do for SH3/4 to remove/add items. What you're looking for will be in the 'Page layout.ini' file.
