Default Can someone lend us a sub???

Out of six subs that the Australian Navy has, only one is fit for sea!

Wow that sucks. That really is another blow to your guys sub service. Maybe we could sell you a couple S-Boats or even a Gato for the time being.

No, more engineering and crew problems, than money. Even if they all worked, there isn't enough crew for all of them.

Hrm....

It seems to me that submarines are a very expensive defense asset. Wonder how the US will fare, given our current financial obligations to China....

*my thanks in advance to all [poorly trained] business people working for America's greatest financial institutions*

Huh, I was under the impression that Australia's navy was decently well off in the submarine department. Guess I was a bit off the mark... 1 out of 6 is pretty appalling.

You can have two of our , we're only using one...

We got the same $%$%^&

http://www.da.org.za/newsroom.htm?ac...s-item&id=5849

Highlights:
The Navy has denied the allegations that they are unable to properly operate the submarines purchased as part of the R49bn arms procurement package. They insist that the submarines are not duds, that the SA Manthatisi is in dry dock as part of "normal naval procedure" and that it was normal naval procedure to rotate submarines.

the use of the four frigates we already have in our possession has been compromised by continuous skills and personnel shortages and they still need to undergo a substantial technical upgrade before they have the required land-attack and anti-submarine capabilities.

problem is not just limited to the Navy. For example, in the Air Force, there are only two Gripen aircraft in South Africa and none are yet operational, leaving South Africa without fighter capacity to defend our airspaces as the older Cheetahs have been decommissioned.

In addition, we do not have the pilots and navigators to man the aircraft.

Ow, brings a tear to my eye to hear of that. On the other hand, you do have Gripen fighters. Stateside we just have all the usual boring stuff. lol

Oh that was mean

IIRC NZ were the first of the Commonwealth countries to offer us help (a loan of weaponry/platforms for home defence) during the Falklands campaign
