Default Fun with torpidos

So I am runing with the WAW campain and as such have survived into '43. This also means I have limited acsess to those fancy FAT torpidos, generaly they let us have one or two per patrol you see as that is aperantly accurate to the period in the war; and accuracy is what they are all about. My question is how best to use those little guys. I have figured out how to set them the way I want and all the features that they have but what is the best way to do that? Spacificaly should I set the torpido to search in the same direction as the convoy is travleing or should it go the other way? Also should I set the torpido to cross the entire width of the convoy or just a few coloms?

I know there are other types of fancy torpidos that have neet features such as acustic seaking ones. What are the best ways to use them? I know that you need to cut engines and dive about 10m imidiatly after cuting that type loose but where is the best point of aim and other things like that.

so you look for a "fancy torpedoes manual"?
I too would be interested in such!

I'd also like a manual + explanation of different torp types. I just got SH3 in December, and haven't gone past 1941 yet, so I have not had any experience with types beyond TI and TII. If someone wrote up a comprehensive guide to torpedoes, I'd be THRILLED!

the FAT torpedoes basically have one setting - turn left or right at end of run. Which way you want them to turn depends on where the most ships are.

I don't think I've ever had a FAT hit something that I wasn't aiming at.

Now acoustic torpedoes are worth their weight in gold.

I understand that I can make the torpido turn right or left at the end of strait run. What I want to know is if people are seeing more sucsess having the torpido runing in the same direction of the convoy or if runing it oposite of the convoy's course. For example if the target convoy is moving East should I set the course East or West?

I'm approaching the end of the war in my campaign, and as such have been given the opportunity to have a shiny XXI instead of my beloved IXD2, and have access to a much wider range of "fish", I tend to change all the torpedoes in the load out to the TIII's except of course the homers, I've actually had a near miss with a FAT returning at me once, and never used 'em after that.

That said however, if someone were to do a proper, in depth guide to using the FAT's, indeed all the differing types of "fish", then maybe I'll try 'em again.
