The sky is pitch black. It has nothing to do with my eye sight or my monitor brightness or contrast.
![]() I launched the first mission in the naval academy, that was the result. There is no storm in training, sky should have been blue, and as I said, it was when I removed the 16k atmosphere mod. |

Usually caused by not rolling back SH3 Commander before installing a mod. It may not be in your case but, it is usually the cause.

I've got the same problem with GWX 3.0 Gold. I have SH3 set to automaticaly roll back mods. With 16km Athmospehere installed the night sky is black on black in bad weather and the you can't see your sub while submerged at a depth of more than Periscope depth. Even with water clarity set for 18-20 in SH3. Uninstall 16km and the problem goes away. Don't think its my Video card, using an ATI Radeon 850XT in a Dell XPS fully loaded. Like GWX but want to see things.

John O,
I have the same issue, and I have an ATI X800 Pro AGP card.Nights during stormy weather and visibility is literally zero, and even at periscope depth the water under the surface is jet black.I dont really like the black underwater and would have liked a more greenish/blue/grey effect you tend to get under the sea/ocean.Still,I cant afford to complain too much about GWX3G,as there are so many positive aspects of the expansion that outweigh the few issues some of us have.

In the original game there were ways to alter the water color and texture. After so many evolutions and computer crashes I've lost the info but I'm sure there are some out there that know what files to alter.

Dekessey,
this black sky actually looks great. It's pertfect, well as long as you are in a black mood like myself ![]()

I can see John Os concern though, the sky may be passable, but that water is far too blue and bright, and his UBoat sticks out against it like a sore thumb.
Looks like some rendering problem, similar to when you lower colour quality in Display Settings on your Desktop, from high (32 bit) to low (16 bit). What AGP card do you have? and what is its onboard memory?

ATI HD3850 AGP and the same over here: there is no night, but all-blacks with 16km atmosphere. Only thing you may see if you struggle enough it's your observation officer epaulet. Nothing else, no sub, no crew, no water, no sky.
I was in night on real sub and it's pretty clear, you can't see on horizon, but you see the water, the sub, your mates, yourself. Moon helps a lot. |

Yes, I was aware of that mod, unfortunately the download link is dead and seems to not be available anywhere else. Thank you for your help, KL-alfman. ![]() |
