Something about biting the hand that feeds you.

We can't insult Ubi. However, we can stomp our feet, gnash our teeth, pull our hair, and scream like a banshee as much as we want.

Or simply express our displeasure in a civilized way on the forum, and by sending Ubisoft a real letter (no email) where you tell them why they lost you as a customer.

They are insulting us with things like:

"If you own a hundred PCs, you can install your games on a hundred PCs," said Brent Wilkinson, Director, Customer Service and Production Planning at Ubisoft

God that one makes me laugh!

And what would be the point if you didn't have access to the net or had dialup only, or their server was down, or your ISP is doing maintenance, etc etc!

complain away to your hearts content but just as you wouldnt be allowed to insult or attack another member we dont allow insults or attacks on UBI or the devs

So far with every additional piece of information the SHV starts looking more and more like a disaster. Insulting is not the right way to go but I would risk an opinion that UBI definitely does not listen to us (maybe devs do, but they are limited by publisher).

Your statement sounds like misplaced loyalty a little bit ("If we lick the hand which feeds us we might get another SH"). As far as I am concerned, if the SHV turns out to be the disaster, I will NOT purchase the game and I couldn't care less if this is going to be the end of the Silent Hunter franchise.
There will always be SH3 (for which I am thankful to UBI) and GWX (thanks GWX team).

due to good relations between UBI and subsim in the past neal has been granted "insider" access to interviews and info nobody else has been given and in some cases pre-release access to the game itself so the subsim community has benefitted greatly from this friendship.

with sh4 not so much and it looks like with sh5 we are treated like the red headed step child but maybe it wasnt intentional.

i have no personal knowledge about them but i believe the same applies to the other sub sim games as well so it is important to the relationship subsim has with game makers that produce these games that we are seen as a friend and not out there leading the descent on any game even if it is well deserved.

hope that clears things up.
