In the same vein as Countdown to Looking Glass, what sets World War Three: The Movie aside is the clever usage of real clips into the context of the war. Ok, the cause of the war is perhaps a little cliché, hardline Soviet general taking power in a coup, etc, and there are some anomalies in strategy but for something made in what is likely to be the early 1990s, it's not that bad.

The Day After is a good one as well. Things get a little hot in Europe then reports of a Tactical Nuke being used in Germany I think. It's more about the after effects and how peoples lives are changed in the Kansas City area as a result of the attack.
