How far did you zoom in on the map? The bearing plotter only shows up at closer ranges.

No additional keystrokes should be needed. The overlay shows up on both the nav chart and attack map when you zoom to close range. If it's the only mod in your game then it should show ... but, if you have other mods, then one of them might be in conflict.

Btw, you are talking about the range-bearing overlay that sits on top of (and follows) your sub's present position, right?

Might also make sure you have the right folder in your Mods directory. Go to your /Mods directory, find the folder that has the bearing plotter, and open it. You should see a folder named "Data." If you don't, keep going deeper into the mod folder until you do, then cut and paste the Data folder back up to the first level of the mod folder.

I think you need to talk to AVGWarhawk about SH4 and Vista.

Default Bearing Plotter and compass distance inconsistent?

I have the 3000 yd/meter bearing plotter installed.

I'm using any US sub.

I go to the nav or attack map and zoom in till the bearing plotter shows up.

I then take the compass and set the center on the sub and extend the circle out till near the 3000 yd outer ring on the bearing plotter.

The compass distance reads around 2300 yds instead of 3000 yds...

The sonar range agrees with the compass, but differs with the distance I see on the bearing plotter.

Is this an error/bug or missunderstanding of what I am seeing?

If an error, how do I fix it?

I have installed the following mods:
RFB 1.4,
RSRDC SH15 V550,
RSRDC V5xx Patch1,
JP Ship Dimension Fix,
Geenlamp,
Small Radar Contacts,
ParaBs fewer radio contacts,
Hi res RED FIN BALAO, and the
3000 yard-Meter bearing tools

Just getting into SH4 after a long lay off, I have SH5 preorded at Amazon, will get it in March 2010. Thanks for the tutorial videos and postings Rockin Robbin, they helped alot.

Thanks,

Mike

That has something to do with your screen resolution and may not be fixable.
Mine is off and I can't change resolution so I just live with it, don't use it for range anyway so it's no big deal for me.

Default Thanks

Thanksf Magic, that makes sense.

I have a wide screen monitor and I set the resolution in the graphics options to 16:10. I guess that the mod for the bearing plot was created for smaller monitor screens whereas the game itself was modified to accommodate wide screens. That would explain why the compass derived distance is correct, while the bearing "rose" is wrong. However, the degrees are accurate...I have to think about why that works but the distance rings do not...

I wonder if SH5 will have a similar bearing/range plotter that is accurate for wide screen monitors?

Regards,

Mike
