Saw this for sale online, looks like memorabilia from the launching of the Japanese KD6 submarine I-175. Does anybody know if this is rare or how much it is worth?

I don't know if it is authentic or not but why would the pre war Japanese write "Japan" in English on the flag cloth?

But I can translate. I don't know about flag, but other thing looks paperweight for me. And Box on tops says" Surbey leveing water device box" This says "War ship Chokai launch commemoration" Mitsubishi trade mark and "I class No.75 submarine launch commemoration, at Mitsubishi heavy Industry in Kobe, showa 11 nen (1936)". Left side steering says "Tatsumiya-maru launch commemoration Showa 13nen (1938 sep 14th) Right side "War ship Chokai launch commemoration" This photo looks upside-down. It says "Mitsubishi KOBE dockyard" I have not used english for a long time. If you cant understand my translation , please ask me.

I would suggest finding a professional for these items. With exception of the flag and I'm sure there is a story behind it, the other items look to be the real deal. Furthermore, I would say these are authentic because I do not see anyone making a copy for any reason at all. As to what these are worth and authenticity is assured, auction house for these items is the way I would go. Very interesting items no doubt.

Wow zaza, thanks for the translation!
Yea these items are for sale for about $4000, a little too steep for me though. I might take it up if it ever goes for under $200. Last edited by miner1436; 12-30-09 at 02:15 PM. |
