I wonder if Scott will ever realise this project he claims to have put his heart into, "The Forever War". More than 15 years he tried to buy the rights, and then he did so 2 or 3 years ago - and he doesn't get started. I mean the man is 70+ years of age and he does not become any younger... I wait for this project more than for any other movie he is planning (last time I read about him he was said to be engaged in almost one dozens films his company produces or that he even plans to direct himself in parts).

Sure it can. Anything can be a disappointment. I hope to be pleasantly surprised, but I'll wait to see it before I say anything.

I think the best Robin Hood movie was The Court Jester, with Danny Kaye. My personal favorite is still the TV series Robin Of Sherwood.

So basically it is in fact Gladiator II. Hundreds of years have passed, Maximus has forgotten his past, and has rooted his new life in the Dark Ages to kill the English- like Mel Gibson (twice, Braveheart and the Patriot).

I hope they let do him the cutting. Consider Kingdom of Heaven - initially a lousy cut by demand of the producer and the investors, the cinema version flopped, the story was too crippled - and the audience took note of that. Later came the director'S cut - and it was a completely new movie, much improved in content, complexity and length, and one of the most impressive movies I have ever seen, and critics of the origianl release that they had buried it, now became enthusiastic. Or take Gladiator: while the release version already was very good, the director's cut also turned it into a new movie that again was so very much better.

If you have picked a director to compose and arrange the story telling - don't interfere with him anymore. In case of Scott, chances are - and his record shows - that he simply knows better how to arrange the plot of his story. Doing the cutting is not the job of either the producer or the investors.

I was fortunate enough to not see the release version of the Kingdom of Heaven, but instead I got my hands straight on to the director's cut. Awesome movie.

And on another hand, I dont think I've ever seen the director's cut of the Gladiator.

Hollywood CAN screw this up and I'm expecting them to. Remember the Kevin Costner Robin Hood ?

It seems that whenever Hollywood gets a hold of something famous or classic , they almost ALWAYS completely screw it up somehow.

We still havn't gotten a proper "War Of The Worlds" yet after three tries and there are LOTS of other examples.

What I would like to see is Hollywood taking something famous, and classic, and taking the gamble that the film watchers are actually INTELLIGENT rather than dumbing everything down or tossing in all the crazy special effects for the attention deficite dissordered.

Ridley Scott - Yes!!!

Russel Crowe - No

It will be a flop cause of Crowe, dont get me wrong i loved his acting in Gladiator, 3:10 Yuma and State of play to name a few. But running around as a poncy Robin Hood with a bow helping the poor. I wont stop laughing!

Mel Gibson played William Wallace in Braveheart well i think he should act the part of Robin Hood.

He called the greatest archers to a tavern on the green;
They vowed to help the people of the King.
They handled every problem on the English country scene;
And still found plenty of time to sing!

Robin Hood, Robin Hood, riding through the glen.
Robin Hood, Robin Hood, with his band of men.
Feared by the bad, loved by the good;
Robin Hood, Robin Hood, Robin Hood!

Yep, it might be a laugh riot. It does seem like a typical Hollywood production so probably nothing to rave about.

Gibson? A little too...maniacal perhaps? He could play a crazy Robin Hood.

Noticed that there's a Sherlock Holmes - movie coming out as well. I guess it's 'rehash the British tales' - time in Hollywood.

Robin Hood in German is spelled Rotten Hoot.......

Why did they pick Russel Crowe when it's so obvious that Leonardo Dicaprio would be a better choice?? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?
