Default Getting blasted in RSRD 5.75

Just went from RSRD 4 to 5.75. New traffic seems much better but I use to be able to patrol submerged with scopes up with a fairly (actually too good IMO) success of spotting aircraft by scope and usually being safe if I could get below 100 feet. I would occasionally get blasted from unseen AC but it seemed reasonable.
Now I'm getting blasted from unspotted AC on a regular basis with bomb patterns that seem to be more like a hedgehog attack. The attacks while I'm shallow are not concerning me, you stay shallow in calm seas and you take your chances. But I have several times been around 160 to 200 (sometimes at standard or flank speed) and been ripped from bow to stern by an AC attack. Every compartment flooded. I know that at that depth you can still be spotted given conditions, I'm wondering about the strike accuracy. It's like every bomb/DC dropped hit dead on as soon as they hit the surface. Laser guided, even.
I can adjust to this if it is as designed but are the AC attacks now supposed more deadly, were the older AC attacks too weak compared to RL? Is RSRD slipping some TMO hot sauce into my coffee mug? I like what seems to be the new changes but it's like someone gave the Japanese ASROCs. Just wondering if some tweak has made AI AC omnipotent.

SH 1.5 + RFB 1.52 + RSRD 5.75
Porpoise Class Boat, no radars, Dec 41-Mar 42 time spans. (3 patrols, can't get past mid march without being blasted) Sing-luzon-Japan, Honshu, patrol areas.

Thanks for any consideration or feedback.

I just migrated to 1.5 last week and am playing a similar setup you are - rfb-1.52, rsrdc. I also added OM. I haven't had your problem, though I'm getting driven under by aircraft almost daily.
Back in my early 1.4 days, I loaded up TM-1.7x, RSRDC, and started a beginning of war patrol in Gudgeon. I ran smack dab into the Japanese invasion force headed for Wake Island. I never got close enough because an aircraft bombed me and I suffered major damage, barely making it back to Pearl. I then wised up and have never started a career without SD radar. Thats most or all of your problem.
The current version of RFB limits your starting renown to zero, meaning you can't get a SD radar until you've earned something like 2000 points. I know its a cheat, but, I go into the saved games folder, and change the "PlayerCurrentRenown=", in the CareerTrack.upc file to a value where I can buy radar.
From a historical accuracy standpoint, SD radar was available early in the war. I am not sure if it was installed on submarines at the time of Pearl. As a WWII submarine historian, I do know that the latest stuff was installed on the boats at the earliest opportunity, so, I have an issue with earning renown for something as critical as SD radar. Many boats - and many more German U-Boats - were lost to aircraft.

The "only" changes between v421 and v575 were changes to the spawn update rate for single ships. There were "NO" changes what so ever to how the aircraft react.

That's what I was led to believe from the readme docs and overview.

That leads to my next question (not strictly RSRD) I have been removing my deck crew to conn tower and hogan's alley when submerging. If I'm making a periscope patrol, is the sim still using the duty watch deck personnel for spotting or the more appropriate control room/conning tower slots?

Thanks for both replies. Yes, radar would probably help but I just love the uphill struggle from a bare-bones boat.
