Default and thats when it hit me.

Last saturday night I felt a little feverish achey so I went to bed early.

I had let the cats in because it was cold and raining.

Right around midnight one of the cats 'Scout' was getting into trouble and I rose from the bed to deal with it.... and thats when it hit me.

What was a mild chill became uncotrollable shivvering and my stomache started to wretch.

I made a mad dash for the bathoom, thank god the wife is outa town and the lid was up.

I sat there for 20 minutes puking shivering a pathetic hulk.

Once I gathered back my constitution I cleaned up a little and slinked back into bed and threw on tripple covers and shivered everytime I even thought about cool air. Every time I rolled over the shivers would come back.

Today is monday and while the wretching has stopped I still have a fever of 102.

I have never had something hit me like that before and I never want to go through it again.

The most cold weather does to me really is give me a runny nose but that is typical of all sudden weather changes really.

Then again I am pretty cold resistant I think.

Love winter, would rather be cold then hot as you can always get warmer but you can't get colder. And there's a few fun ways to get warm too.

Take some Tylenol, it will break the fever and you can sleep better until it passes.

A fever of 100 + deg Fahrenheit can be very exhausting. If the high fever continues for more then a few days ring up a doc or a nurse. If even low fever continues for more then 2 weeks then visit a doc or a nurse.

Haven't yet had any flus yet for this winter myself, knock wood.

I think a visit to the docs after a few days of fever would be my recommendation! I am usually lucky to get the flu about once every 10 or 15 years! Better not speak too soon though!! Hope your over it soon SteamWake, hopefully it's not bird flu!

Don't forget to drink a lot of water. You are losing a lot because of sweating. Besides the water will also help to flush the organisms responsible for the illness out of your system.

TMI Here but...

Sickest i have ever been was food poisoning.

I ate what i assume were under cooked chicken enchiladas.

Around 10:30pm i felt just the slightest bit nauseous.

By Midnight the "flow control valves" on both ends of my body had been set to the "maximum purge / full open" position.

I literally had one end going into the toilet and the other end into the bath tub with absolutely zero physiological control over either function.

this process was ongoing until about 5:00am

Around 5:30am i took a loooong shower, and I emerged a pale victim of an unmerciful illness.

I had probably lost 8 to 10 lbs (if not more) of various bodily fluids over night. Iagonizingly stumbled into the living room and settled in on the sofa where i slept until probably 2:00 pm

this bout with food poisoning was like every drunken hang over, every flu, every spell of motion sickness and every ass kicking i had ever had in the entirety of my life all rolled into one...

for the next 3 or 4 days, the sincerity of every burp and each potential puff of flatus was firmly in question.

That night changed my life forever.

And i pray to God that no human being on this earth ever has to go through that ordeal.

I've had the exact same experience. It is not fun. Luckily my bathtub is right next to my toilet, because as you said, when you have it coming out of both ends at once, its horrible. I remember retching so hard that it made my eyes tear up. Truly one of the worst experiences I've had and definitely not one to be repeated. Mercifully it doesn't last too long.

I felt the same way when I read that abstract of Palin's book.

Seriously, I hope you get better soon. You seeing a Doctor?
