Type IX conning tower problem

We all know the Dead Watch Crew bug that curse the type IX-3 conning tower configuration ( dead watch crew after surfacing the boat with a damaged conning tower ). In order to avoid this annoyant problem, I have changed the default IXD2 IX3 mounting with an early war IX1 mounting ( to have at least one heavy girl to face big bees ). But, in the AA equipments, I can only mount a light flak in the conning tower....why

now LK is getting drunk celebrating his 100 posts!

If you want to avoid the IX/3 conning tower of death bug, use GWX 2.0.

It's fixed.

I'm actually using GWX 2.0...never thought that this bug had been fixed

But this little detail interest me, I like the IX1 configuration

In answer to your question then.

The node which houses the larger AA weapons is only on the IX2/IX3 conning towers. That's why you can't attach it to the IX/1 tower. Short answer, it doesn't fit.

Ive been using the 9's for some time and have never ran across this bug...:hmm: couse I dont have a Bernard on my boat either...

IX1 tower accept the heavy flack behind the conning tower...In facts, if I start a career with the type IXB with a IX1 configuration, I have the heavy and the light one mounted. But if I upgrade to a IX2 and then go back for the IX1, I lose the heavy mounting behind the tower

And I can't explain why

You lose it because the IXD2 does not model such a feature. IXD2's and IXC/40's all use mainly the IX/3 conning towers.

Could be very interestin have the possibility of personalize the AA guns in the boat or mount a heavy gun in the place of the light.

or have the early 37 cm flak and the IX/2 tower with light guns

Whether or not it was an uncommon thing to see a IXC or a IXD with that configuration makes it a pity that you can't do it though. Having gone through the "what uboat is this" thread it shows that U-181 had this configuration for apparently quite some time. Just a bummer we can't just apply it as such

If you want a IX/1 conning tower on your IXD just double click it in the upgrade screen and hey presto. But you can't have a heavy flak without the Ix/3 tower on the IXC and IXD.

If you but ViiC/4 tower on IXB you have tree Heavy AA guns + deck gun.(mod).

I think that Heavy AA wth IX/1 tower goes wth IX/1 tower, and not with IXB boat.
But will IX/1 tower And Heavy AA work with IXD in upgrade menu, i do not know.:hmm:
If not maybe you can mod it to work ??
