Default [TEC] Engine time/depth rendering

Ever notice how in deep water when you sink a ship it disappears after about 500 meters or so? Or how a ship disappears after a while in shallow water? Or how your sub gets deleted after sinking more than 500m?

I was wondering if anyone knew where to find the files containing this data? Is it hardcoded?

thanks:Miner

IIRC this is hardcoded behaviour to prevent the game memory from having to still keep track of a unit considered eliminated from the game

I've noticed this as well and I think Hitman is correct. Now the real question is, if a sunken ship or your boat exceeds 500m, why make the ocean in game any deeper than that?

Are you sure it is any deeper than that? How would you tell? Play the spooky music here...

I took one of the nuke boats (can't remember which one anymore) for a test dive once. I watched the whole thing on the exterior cam, until *spooky music* it just disappeared! There was no bottom in sight, so it's hard to tell how far down it goes.
