Default 3-d dry dock

How about a 3-d dry dock to see what the damage is after patrol kind of like they had in b-17 the mighty eight. You could move your mouse over certain damaged areas and it would show the days it would take to repair and also you could deside not to repair it at all.

I voted yes, but I doubt it's doable at this time in the development of the game...

I dont think the visual damage will be much more detailed than in SHIV

Question is, how often did these boats go into drydock? Is making the drydock even worth it? Should time be better spent on the other projects for the game? I do not see any use for a drydock myself.

Sounds great, but I'd rather they concentrate on the core of the game rather than things that are not that important.

so you can go to the bar and pick up women as bonus points for your patrol, ugly women get no points.

and lets not bother fixing the game but do stuff like this instead lol.

EDIT: the idea sounds nice but i really wouldnt want them doing stuff like this because it WILL make the rest of the work on the game suffer

I'd love to see a drydock, but it would take a lot of time and effort for the devs with very little actual return. I voted for the 2D damage screen option.

Considering SH4 was released unfinished to to publisher constraints, and SHV has the same publisher.. I say get the core game right, don't waste time on fluff like this.

Seriously, if you are still playing SHV years after release, with an average of a patrol a week.. you would probably only have about a total of an hour looking at such a screen. You may look at it for a few minutes the first time, after a patrol or two.. click click and you are gone in 5 seconds, enjoying it no more then if it was a 2D screen.

Waste of time to develop considering all of the other things that need to be put in to make the AT SEA experience better.

i hope you understand that we are negative to your suggestion because we fear game developement time is too valued for stuff like this but in a perfect world i can see where this would be a novel thing to have.

i think a way to get something close to this is if the game just doesnt end when you die.

the game could simply give you a "your mission is over" exit button in the corner of the screen so you can use the exterior cam to look over the situation and see what happened and your sub damage but you dont exit the mission or leave the game untill you click on the exit icon.

a click to exit feature rather than automatic ending by death thing would be a very nice thing to have in the game.

I would put this in the category of "fluff".

Now if actual damage of your submarine impacted the time in port and the availability of upgrades that would be realistic, but I don't need to see it.

There is still a lot of improvement that can/should be done with a submarine simulator before we should move to this type of stuff.

As i said, it might only be worth it - if the Sub displayed GTA IV style damage.
But it will not, your bow will not crumple on collision impact and you bridge will not become deformed from DC explosions, you'll proably have Titanium sub which gets peppered with a few dynamic 'alpha channel holes' (A la SHIV). i dont want to stand in a dry dock just to stare at those....

The damage sustained allready affected the time you stayed in port in sh-3
