DETROIT -- Detroit's homeless and low-income residents have another opportunity for a chance at millions of stimulus dollars.


The money is available to help low-income residents from becoming homeless and homeless residents to find housing.

Personally I am convinced that this stimulus money will make it into the community and create jobs and provide housing /sarcasim off

To qualify, a person must have been a resident of Detroit for more than six months, must be homeless or facing eviction and must be able to maintain housing after receiving assistance.

Also, a resident must make 50 percent less than the median area income, which would be less than $24,850 for single Detroit residents and less than $35,500 for a family of four.

No mortgage assistance will be available through this program.

Once applications are reviewed, only applicants eligible for funding assistance will receive notification from a service provider.

Those are some stiff rules to qualify. This program is odd and the reason I say that is those looking to get this assitance must prove that they can maintain housing after receiving assistance. One must have job to maintain a home. Detroit was seriously hit when the auto industry faultered and continues to lanquish in the void. There is not mortgage assistance with this program.

There were some cities were the homeless consider the bench they sleep on as their home and got approval for help. I do not recall the city but I do remember reading about it.

Some people are in some very desperate times. Not all here are on the take. Yesterdays article said this was not a mortgage program yet this article mentions those in foreclosure. Strange.
