Default What Version of Silent Hunter ???

My interest is, what Version of Silent Hunter is your favorit and why.

My favorit is SH3, it´s the Atlantic feeling and the hunt of big Convoys, in rainy and stormy Weather.

The Graphic in SH4 is better, ok, but the feeling is to boring for my flavour and i love the U-Boats.

SH4, I'm a US Submariner myself so I guess it's a heritage thing for me.

I like uboats but I favor fleet boats. I'm part of the restoration crew on the USS Torsk. It is just more of an interest than the uboat. I do enjoy the foreboding Atlantic and the struggle. I do enjoy the taunting dud torps and the slot in the Pacific. Radar is just cool Alas, I will go back to the uboats with SH5 for the feeling of dread in the Atlantic.

I voted SH3, but I just got SH4 and have played around with it for only a couple of days. First impression was meh but it is starting to grow on me a bit. I've already started adding some mods and am wrapping up some tutorials before I hit the high seas to wreak havoc.

I think I like the Atlantic though because of the underdog mentality that I get later on in the war when just getting home alive is a huge accomplishment.

I'll reserve the right to change my vote in a couple of months after playing SH4 though, just in case.

SH3 with GWX ... fewer bugs. When and if compartments are added to SH4 fleet boats, I might change my mind.

Silent Hunter 4 U-Boat Missions. Wide variety of supermods and smaller tweaks makes it a much more enjoyable modding environment. Lots of "competing" modders without strife. It's a community thing.

And there's much left to do on SH4. So there's more room for improvement there. SH3 is in a much different stage of life. It's had a great run. It rehabilitated the submarine simulation genre. It established the Romanian developers' team as the one to bring the franchise forward. Now it's time to move on with a grateful heart.

SH4 has a good legs still and can troop on awhile longer.

SH3 with GWX and SH3 Commander. I actually play SH4 U-boats with Ops Monsun and SH4 with RFB more because SH3 takes forever to load and I'm always experimenting with mods, but the question was "Favorite", and I'm a sucker for the immersion the full harbors and the crew options Commander gives me.

Confused? I know I am.

Scanning the members logged in to SH3 and SH4, plus the mod sections show about the same number most of the time.
I like both, but I really am partial to SH3 (and AOD/SHI bring fond memories).
I haven't apologized to the Emperor for a long time.

Default SH3 forever

Without wishing to sound patronizing, it's SH3 for me, mainly because the various GWX's have bought turned it into a thoroughly amazing experience. Also, I guess being English, I identify with the Battle of the Atlantic far more readily than with that of the Pacific. Coincidentally (it being the anniversary of the start of WWII) today I bought SH4 and, having played it all afternoon, I've have decided to donate it to a local charity shop (probably NOT the British Legion). Of course, SH5 could be another matter. We shall see...
