Default So help me God, I will Tweet this!

I got a big laugh out of this

Quote:
This week, Dooce.com's Heather Armstrong posted a hilarious, outrageous account of the difficulties she faced in trying to fix a new $1,300 Maytag washing machine. Finally, during one of her many long conversations with customer service, she floated the nuclear option: "And here's where I say, do you know what Twitter is?" she wrote. "Because I have over a million followers on Twitter. If I say something about my terrible experience on Twitter do you think someone will help me?" The customer-service agent assured her that it wouldn't help; Armstrong tweeted anyway—"DO NOT EVER BUY A MAYTAG"—and by the next day, a Maytag executive was overnighting the parts she needed to get her washer fixed. Another company, Bosch, did one better: It offered Armstrong a free washer and dryer, which the blogger re-directed to a local homeless shelter.

Keep in mind that (MAYTAG R.I.P.-2005) Is not Maytag anymore but Whirlpool!

Yep the last American built appliance company was bought by Whirlpool and dissembled and shipped overseas. Now Maytag exists in name only.

Maytag refused to ship manufacturing overseas and keep making them in the U.S. and our government rewarded them by Taxing them into oblivion!

Not only Maytag but their subsidiary's, Magic Chef, Amana and everybody's favorite vacuum Hoover. All built here, all lost to oversea production.

We as American people should not tolerate the Tax loopholes company's get for shipping out our jobs and shutting our factory's down.

Get special interests out of Washington and bring allot of rope!

Maytag went under because it bought out companies that it couldn't afford to and didn't need to while at the same time it allowed its production standards to fall badly resulting in expensive recalls and the loss of its good name.
It was then bought out by another American company that builds appliances in America.
If you want to buy another American built appliance the get a Wolf or a Viking.
Oh sorry Freiwillige you were trying to say something about there not being American built appliances anymore:rotfl:

Nice twist Steamwake
But.......
The problem with your twist there is that if the organisation you mean didn't buy out part of those companies it would still get saddled with most of their liabilities, that doesn't apply in the case of Maytag choosing to but out Amana.

A slight diversion but...

My late uncle and now his wife own the largest collection of Maytag stuff in the world... no lie.. she even was chairman of the maytag collectors club or some such.

They have or had bizzare stuff. They had Maytag outboard motors, Maytag gasoline powered washing machines, even a Maytag go cart :rotfl:

I now let you return to the original topic
