WTF-Stern Tubes Damaged!!

On patrol in the East China Sea. I am stalking a merchant and am ready to take a shot with my stern tubes. The firing point arrives, tube door open, press the fire button and I get the report that the stern tube is too damaged to fire. I try the remaining stern tubes-same message.

I look at the damage control screen. It shows no damaged components on my sub, only 1% damage on my hull integrity.

I've had some close calls with aircraft but with no reported damage except for the 1% nick to the hull.

Anybody seen this before or should I just chalk it up to jammed tubes and continue on with my bow tubes?

I'm playing TMO 1.7/RSRD.

Never seen that before. Ive seen 'too deep to fire'.

Did you try putting some crew in the damage control slots and order battle stations?

Were you able to scroll back to the damage reports?

Im assuming that the tubes like other systems can be damaged 'beyound repair'. They may be at 99% but cant get that last 1% and therefore considered irreperable.

I was already at battle stations and all slots of damage control were filled.

I didn't try that. I'll check when I resume this afternoon.

Wouldn't the damage screen show the tubes damaged and their icons "red" as well as listed in the repair priority list?
None of that was there when I checked the DC screen.

Thanks.

Well, I'll probably chalk it up to a "malfunction", consider the stern tubes unusable this patrol, and hope the boys back at Pearl can make 'em right.

sounds to me like this is a bug and not game related... if it's not showing stern torpedo tubes RED or damaged, something is glitched.

Default just happened to me

first patrol in a career, off the coast of Japan. Snuck into a port after finding and sinking only two fishing boat in open water. I had sunk them with my deck gun. Sneaking into the harbor, I found 3 gunboats and 5 or 6 merchants at anchor, so I conveniently lined up to fire forward torpeedoes. No dice. All were damaged!!!!

So, recalling my months of training at the world renown Subsim forum sub school, my boat came about and fired its 4 aft torpedoes, hitting two targets and sinking one. Then, I made a dash for deep water, 14 nm east. Ocean depth was only 63 feet. I was followed by a Hira Gunboat for 8 miles, circling me at a distance of 100-300 yds. and gunning in my direction. I fired two aft torpedoes at it, but they missed. Two hours later (real time), the gunboat headed south. I passed out from fatique.

So, you say your stern tubes are malfunctioning?!?

Sounds pretty serious... go see your Urologist, maybe?

The torpedo gods are angry... last night when I loaded my saved game, I had the CO2 icon come up on my HUD.
I wasn't submerged.
My CO2 kept accumulating too....even after multiple dive/surface/dive/surface exercises.

I am not amused.
