Default Democrats Playing Solitaire ... AT WORK!

I saw this on Drudge: http://blogs.courant.com/capitol_wat...ire-photo.html

Quote:
House Minority Leader Lawrence F. Cafero Jr., R-Norwalk, far right, speaks while colleagues play solitaire on their computers as the House convenes to vote on a new budget for the fiscal year in the Capitol on Monday

I may suprise people with this but I've got to say ... so what?

Okay, so the baseball game may have been a bit much but, to be honest, I've been on countless conference calls where I've mindlessly played games such as solitaire while paying attention whole-mindedly. Doing something with my hands and reflexively by sight helps me focus.

On the other hand, politicians should be smart enough to realize that this kind of crap is terrible PR and that the crunching of budget numbers is far more involving than your average conference call.

So, what say you, Subsim?

Eh, I can imagine the attack ads it will generate in the next election. Something like:

Quote:
Republican Tom Foley, who is running for U.S. Senate against incumbent Democrat Christopher J. Dodd, said, "I was disheartened to see a Hartford Courant front page photo showing members of our Democratically-controlled legislature playing solitaire on their computers while debate was occurring on a new state budget that raises taxes and contains no net reduction in spending. This is not a time for the Democrats who control our legislature to be playing games with Connecticut's future. Our elected officials need to put away their computer toys and help working people by lowering taxes and keeping government spending down.

This is just horrible. Those dam' Dems devilishly dealing sordid solitaire suits when they should be worrying about the state of the country...waitaminute...

Naw, I can only hope mindless computer games will keep them from giving themselves another pay raise...

Naw. But if it keeps them out of trouble, go for it.

I saw the thread title and thought it was about me. So disappointed.
