Hi! What skinning and modeling programs do you use when making and skinning ships to SH3?
I am intrested from making my own ships and sub skins. Of course, it takes some time to practice but could you help me finding some good programs? Thank-you!

A great way to get started sub-skinning is with Wolfehunter's templates... They're a fantastic way to see all the different layers and shapes involved in a skin! I used them alot until I got the hang of everyting and then created my own sets... I believe his templates are available for download here at SubSIM... if not PM me and I'll send them to you. BTW - both his original and my custom templates are for Photoshop CS3 and later (I don't know if they'd work with anything else like GIMP, etc)
...oh and another helpful tip... start with a VII... I think they're easier to ge the hang of - especially the towers! ![]() |

Nice 1st skin Von Talon... but I would still highly recommend working with a set of templates... you'll get MUCH better quality results and you'll be able to do much more intricate designs like the tribal flames on my "Yeah, It's Got A Hemi" skin, or the camo of my "Ghost of the Atlantic" skin, or the incredible level of detail SWCowboy put into his Type VII's, or even the advanced rusting and aging that Yamato9 or CapZap put into their skins... Download some of our skins and take a look at various techniques and designs then experiment with your own style - you'll be very happy with the results! Best of luck and feel free to ask questions of any of the Skinning Guys formerly of BtS.
