Default Ridiculous amount of renown in GWX

Today I made an insane attack to Giblatar's harbor. I sank Nelson battleship, 3 cruisers, 3 tankers and 2 destroyers. That's over 100000 tons. I managed to escape and returned to base. When I was checking my mission report, I noticet that I only earned about 2500 renown. That's weird. I think that sinking a battleship and alot of other big ships I would be better rewarded.

IXC class Uboot (or was it IXB?) costs 7500 renown. That means that I should sink 3 battleships, 9 cruisers and 9 tankers and 6 destroyers. OR 300000 tons of allied shipping. Thats alot. Every IXC Kaleun had sunked over 300000 tons of ships, right? XXI kaleuns have sunken allied ships for over 3000000 tons .

Is this made on purpose?

I agree with your topic.

This is much better done in NYGM. You don't have renown in NYGM but tonnage.

That I don't know, but I suppose it's all about how many tonnage you have sunk during your patrol.

It's a tonnage war, not a renown war.

I sank 3 BB in the same convoy

but when I arrived to port they only gave me something near 2700~2900 renown (I was expecting a lot more), atm I have 45XX renown =/

I entered Scapa Flow in early 1940 and sank HMS Hood. Later on the same patrol I sank HMS Nelson and several other ships. Best patrol ever. Was expecting alot more renown for that!

I agree with you here mate.

I think I've read somewhere that if, for example, you sink the Hood or whatever big one several times as they respawn, you only get tonnage and renown once. If I understood well.

The uboat war was against the merchants, not the battleships, you get more reknown for sinking a big merchant ship or troop carrier than you do for a battleship as it is seen as more important overall.

Very good point of view...

If you want to know a bit more about the GWX renown system then read this post: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...9&postcount=11

It does not take into account new ships that you may add by different mods so it will never be a complete list but it gives you an idea about how it works.

Another thing to remember is that these numbers are the total renown if played at 100% realism. Any reduction of the realism settings will reduce the renown received for sinking each ship.

I hope this explains your "lack" of renown.

Is that per ship class or per ship tonnage?

Exampe, will an empire-type freighter always be wort the same amount of renown, no matter if its 1 ton or 1,000 tons?

It is handled by the ship ID. If you reset the tonnage for an Empire Freighter to 1 ton and leave the renown setting alone the renown will be the same regardless of the tonnage.

Ok, I followed your adwise. I madea another insane attack to Southend (Near London). I sank 2 Large Troopships (Passenger Liners) 1 Modern Tanker, 1 Liberty Cargo. Thats about 65000 tons.

And again. Only 1000 renown (note that I sank few destroyers)
