Default "Woosh" sound at game start

This is a bit off the wall...(and not really important, either)...but whenever I enter a campaign game (enter the sub, not the office screen) I hear a strange "woosh" sound. It doesn't particularly sound like anything that might actually occur on-board a submarine -- almost like something from a sci-fi movie.

Can anyone tell me what this sound is? Is it something everyone hears? Is it some strange sound artifact? Is it Frenssen farting?

I am running GWX3.0 - although I may have heard the sound before I installed it - can't quite remember.

Cheers for obliging my strange forum questions.

Im not sure what the sound is either.

It can be described as a hiss of air, or a woosh of flowing air for about 2 or 3 seconds.

i have never known what this sound is supposed to be and i have heard it since playing from the day i pulled the shrink wrap off the package.

It could be all the sounds synchornizing themselves with the game engine.. I don't think it's anything to worry about or a bug, it's a feature

yes it is normal... nothing "wrong"

i think Chad is right though - probably just some sort of synchronization of game sounds or something.

Well thank god I'm not crazy or have demons in my computer or something. Well, maybe someone can come along and tell us what the hell this sound is supposed to be. I've got my money on "steam-operated teleporter".

This "woosh" sounds are usually heard after loading a saved game (and more often when save was made submerged). If you ever had damages before saving the game, next time you load it you may hear glass braking sound again together with "woosh" just after "Not so long ago.." screen. It's normal.

AXXCHOR,

It kind of reminds me of the after battery compartment. Thats where most of the crew members berth. Also that is where the enlisted mens ****ters were. Now mind you the toilets were right next to the water tight door between the after battery and the forward engine room. Soooo while sitting on said ****ter and if someone opened the watertight door while surfaced, that same sound and whoosh of air would blow right by your ol arse as you were sitting there. Coming straight down from the bridge hatch, through the Conn, Control room, Mess, and ****ters. God forbid you opened the valve to the santitary tank at the same time as the hatch opened. You were in for a long clean up.

Now that is the sound you would hear on a US Fleet Boat......on a U-Boat that could just be Bernard farting........

That's the sound of the ballast tanks being blown dry by compressed air after ordering an emergency surface drill. I recently had to come up from 235 meters most ricky-tick so I blew ballast, and when I loaded my savegame after doing that the next day, I heard the tanks being blown dry again.

As well as glass breaking and Zentrale being plunged into darkness as the lights broke. It happens every time I load a savegame after I take damage (the glass breaking and so on. Whoosh goes away so long as I haven't blown ballast the savegame prior). Happened in Stock and in GWX 2.1, will probably happen in 3.0 after I complete this career and install 3.0.

My theory is that the game queues sounds to play before it can play them and then plays all queued sounds at once.

It's actually Bernard using the WC before coming on duty.

Yeah, I think the glass breaking/damage warning thing is a standard problem...I experience that too. So it makes sense that the 'woosh' could be a 'misplaced' sound effect as well -- only related to new campaign missions. I don't hear The Woosh when, say, starting a mission from a milk cow.

I swear to god, when you're using headphones with your volume all the way turned up your ears will hurt for days on end = (
