SH3 Commander + MultiSH3

Maybe someone can help me ...

I use MultiSH3 to test and experience different kind of supermods GWX, LSH3, NYGM, WAC ... well you will understand my meaning.

In my documents folder I make for each one a seperate folder, e.g. GWX and this works fine.

Question?

Do I need to install SH3 Commander for every seperate install, such as GWX or NYGM? And how?

... or

Can I browse within SH3 Commander and click on options (blue image at bottom) and at General Settings change the path? Example: C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\GWX\

I did the above but the main settings in SH3 Commander (for example GWX) stay the same and will not change if I load another game, for example NYGM. C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\NYGM\

What is the solution, so that SH3 Commander will remember all the settings for each (MultiSH3) installation?

Thanks guys!

I have 7 installations of SH3 and 5 installations of SH3 Commander. (two are purely testing installations)

I have an SH3 Commander install for each SH3 install.

I find the easiest method is to name each installation in a different/unique way and point (identically matching named) each specific SH3 Commander install to its specific target eg:

1st install...GWX3.1.....SH3 Commander3.1

2nd install...GWX3.2.....SH3 Commander3.2

etc.

The secret is naming your game install before naming and pointing Commander to it.

OKAY, I understand! You do it that way.

They way I use SH3 Commander is only one install and browse to C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\GWX\ ... C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\NYG\ ... etc. etc.

As I said, it remembers the setting for (example) GWX ... if I want other settings for NYG it will have the same settings as for GWX.

Your solution is perfect.

However, did SH3 Commander not said: "you must install it in this directory C:\Program Files\SH3 Commander (otherwise it is incorrect)?

So you rename it to: C:\Program Files\SH3 Commander1 ??? etc. etc. without any problem?

Yeah....you can either point it at the target or wait for it to ask you which install it couples with when you first fire the installation up (Commander).

First I (so you know) use MultiSH3.

I copied the original SH3 folder in C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\ and called it GWX then I installed SH3 Commander again in C:\Program Files\SH3 CommanderGWX

... look at the path and name. SH3 CommanderGWX

But when I start SH3 CommanderGWX, Windows give me an error?

Message: "SH3 Commader requires SilentHunterIII to be installed on your computer. Unfortunately, an installation of Silent Hunter cannot be found. You will need to determine where Silent Hunter III is installed, and run SH3 Commander again."

I am getting crazy! What is my fault?

BTW I have another SH3 Commander in C:\Program Files\SH3 Commander for another game. GWX + OLC Gold MkII.

How do you do it the right way? I suppose you use MultiSH3 too?

Thanks!

I think when I have time, I will make a pdf file for several installations in combination with SH3 Commander and MultiSH3.

Until now (I have 5 installations), everything is working perfect.

SilentHunterIII

GWX 3.0

LSH3 v.4

NYGM

WAC 4.0

All of this "SUPERMODS" have their advantages and disadvantages.

You must (can) try them all to see the huge difference between the above supermods.

I will inform here at subsim.com when my PDF is ready.

That would be a good idea. I'm probably a bit thick, as I never could figure out how to do that ( and may be also by fear of screwing the all thing up... Who likes a CTD ? ) and we need a very detailed explanation, sorry, I mean at least I do..
