SH3 related Dream / nightmare?

Oddly enough i have not played sh3 in a few weeks, however i did watch a documentary about lost subs in the pacific.

Had the strangest dream that i was in command of a VIIC.

we attacked a convoy but were detected... went to about 180 meters during depth charge attack.

did well with evasion for a while.

something catastrophic happened in the bow... a column of water simply sprayed into the forward torpedo room filling it literally in a matter of about 3 seconds, flooding in the bow quarters immediately resulted as crewmen ran aft but were unable to outrun the vast wall of sea water as it overtook them.

a fast thinking crewman slammed the command room hatch and sealed it shut...fast thinking, but it only delayed our end.

as the boat took a severe down angle of about 45 degrees all available hands mustered in the control room as we blew out all ballast in vain and ordered full reverse to slow the dive.

The electric engines, running only on aft batteries strained against the descent.

I produced a pistol from a lock box in the command room with the thought of passing it around to those who hoped for a less dreadful end.

The sound of the hull creaking and popping and the dreadful sounds of sea pressure against the forward hatch were terrific. water began to shower gently into the command room from around the hatch with greater strength

the needle on the depth gauge was well pegged on 250m by now as the boats power failed and plunged everything into darkness.

the groaning and creaking of metal grew louder and more frequent, punctuated by bangs and pops of various panels bursting around the outer hull.

the last thing i remember was a voice penetrating the darkness which said "you'll have to do the shooting sir... the man who falls dead by his own hand will likely drop the pistol, and we will never find it in this dark."

words escaped me.

I woke up.

i have had a hand full of U-Boat dreams since installing SH3 years ago.

some funny, some serious, some down right weird.

but never one so terrifying.

so... have you guys had any SH3 related dreams???

What a chilling dream!!!!

I can't say I've had a submarine dream, at least that I can remember.

When I read about submarines going down on their final dive, I've always wondered what it was like.
Was there calm? panic? are they so busy trying to save the boat that they don't have time to think before the hull gives way?

Probably a combination.
We will never know though and it is pretty unimagineable.

That kinda struck me as funny in a dark humor kind of way.

Maybe I'll start keeping a couple of scuttling charges in a lock box in the command room...

Sheesh, all those faces looking at ya as the depth increases.

I have always wondered, at the last moment when the pressure hull can take no more does it crush all at once, instantaneously, all compartments at once?

i belive it is like a beer can , it crushes imidiatly, since after the smallest breach , it increases exponentioly(spl?) and it all ends in mere moments.

That's what I had always imagined, but was never sure if that was a "Hollywood" image or fact.

if the boat is fully flooded with sea water before it reaches its crush depth... it wont crush, it will just crash into the sea floor.
