Default Help with zon file

I am searching through threads subsim, so far couldn't find much..

So, if anyone skilled enuf would share his knowledge with me, with anyone who reads this, about the misteries of zon file, that would be great. So, when someone types zon file in search finds this thread..

Or if someone has a link to some tech thread..

So far I understood that zon files consist of subsections(id connected to dat file, better said parts of the ship). There is a couple of subsections connected to some parts of the ship(rudders, tubes etc.) and one large subsection(or a node for silent 3d editor users like myself) for the whole part of the ship. In that subsections you have spheres and boxes. Boxes have type of armour, number of which can be found in zones.cfg. and coordinates or directx vectors, min and max xyz corodinates. How to determine those coordinates? How do boxes functions?
Spheres on the other hand are complete and utter mistery to me. How, what, why, where? What is their correrelation to boxes etc.?
Thoughts about zon file, about that big subsections and everything someone knows about, has time to do it and will above all, would be great!

Thanks in advance!
