Default Empire type freighters and GWX

Greeting all!

Been hanging around here for a while now but finally registered after installing GWX 3!!!

Currently in July 1940 and all is going well, i have survived a few scares and a 2hr depthcharging experience at the opening of the channel between Londonderry and Scotland.

I have noticed something... Empire-type freighters and how easy they are to sink with the deck gun!!! My record is 9 shells on the warer-line running in a line from the forward crew structure to the funnel. Then they go down! An easy 6.6k tonnes!!! Small merchants and tramp steamers can take upwards of 25+ shells before going down for 1/3 the tonnage! Any ideas why this is!?

Btw guys, thanks to the GWX team - a superb mod!

It will be to do with their damage models. Some ships are easier with torps than DG and vice versa.

Believe it or not, but 2-3 shots on the waterline next to the fuel bunker on a Modern Medium Tanker takes it out. I have to expend between 1 -2 torpedoes to get the same result. Go figure.

it only takes me 1 torp to sink a modern tanker
