I'm trying to play as realistically as possible, and I have a few questions:
1. Can anybody give me what mk. 14 torpedo settings are proper for what dates? And by proper I mean official, BuOrd recommendations. I want to know how they changed by date. For example, magnetic pistols from the begining of the war until ? date, when they realized they weren't working right. And were the magnetic pistols fixed, and put back into official recommendations eventually? 2. What date did the electric torpedoes start coming into widespread use? When they did, what was the typical loadout? 50/50? 75 steam / 25 electric? 3. Not really a realism question, but what is the radius from the player at which the game will not spawn ships? I think I recall it being something like 25 nm. Is this right? thanks |

If realism is what you're after, I'd install the RFB Mod. Read all about it in the mods forum. The mod contains the Real Environment mod for your scenic pleasure, as well as adresses alot of the stock shortcomings for a very immersive experience. It's my personal favorite!

The magnetic exploder was to be used from the beginning of the war. July 4th 1943 Lookwood ordered the deactivation of the magnetic detonators. Still, the impact detonators had issues. The rod that pressed the detonators upon impact were found to be shorter than required. However, some skippers deactivated the magnetic detonators before the order to do so because they knew these did not work. This was done at sea where BuOrd could not know about it.
![]() Nice link to quickly see the dates and time for torpedo modifcations and introduction of new electric torps. http://74.125.47.132/search?q=cache:...&ct=clnk&gl=us

thanks.
I'm already RFB. I just wanted to get my torp loadout as accurate as possible. |
