I was in an awesome little battle with wakatake destroyer in the bismarck sea i beleive. I managed to get away from it with just a small scratch. A paint mishap and aa damage and no hull damage. Well after the long fought battle and I won I notice my CO2 up. After I surfaced It was still going up. I put on my repair crew and still nothing. after an hour and a half of playing i died from c02 and I was surfaced I dont understand.

This is a known "bug", To fix the problem just submerge and click on the
CO2 icon on the upper right and then surface. That should cure the problem.
If not save and reload the save. Should go away.

I've always had to save and start over. Get this bug a few times per career. I've tried hitting the icon, but never works.

is this a common 1.5 bug? i haven't encountered it in 1.4

Seems to be a 1.5 only bug. Not a big deal if you know how to clear it.
Haven't really run into it myself.

it's a 1.5 bug yeah but i've never heared of a US sub having this problem. All posts about this bug were about the German U-Boats as far as I can remember.
I used to have this problem too, but I haven't seen it for quite some time, maybe something in RFB or OM fixes it?
