memory (read) error

i was in the middle of wreaking havoc on this huge convoy just off newfundland, had bagged a Brooklyn class cruiser and several good sized merchies. the last ship i shot was a medium cargo. hit her prob in the hold with a mag torp. and the blew up in a spectacular fashion. lotta smoke since i have racerboys SH4 effects for SH3 lag and ah. so down scope to continue shadowing the convoy and reload the externals. but as soon as my scope goes under the waves i get an error msg saying something about a memory read error / memory error. not sure which one. any idea what is causing this??? lost about 40000GRT to this POS error. is a fresh install in order?

thx for the help!!!

That error can be cause by a few things,

I think I would check is to see if your ram has any bad sectors, google "ram test" and microsoft offers a free tool to check your ram. Next update and drivers and defrag/scan the drive.

Then test again, if you get the same problem try a fresh install and test again.

Best of luck..I hate errors

I have had this problem when there is too much for my computer memory to handle. After you test your memory, I suggest you get as much RAM as you can (it is really cheap) and if you have Vista, use memory boost.
When I have used memory boost, I have found it unreliable above 2GB.
I assume you have the latest drivers and a decent video card.
