anyone having problems with multi-core system?

I have a quad-core processor and am having problems running SH3. Specifically, graphic anomalies with using bridge/exterior views, freezing and screwing with my desktop. Is there a way to make SH3 use only one core? Or are the problems the result of another cause?

I'm using a AMD Phenom X4 9650 Quad-Core with no problems.

I'm not real sure what it is but I would rule out the processor as I have a quad core as well. You might try this link as the people there like to solve these types of things.

http://www.tomshardware.com/us/#redir

Have you checked the website for your graphics card? Sometimes they release new drivers to fix issues.

It appears to be a problem specific to WAC 3.0. I fired up a vanilla version and everything seemed fine. I've posted the issue in the WAC forum.

Maybe i am reading the stats Wrong but if you only have a total of 1gb of ram that could be the problem running the more demanding programs as 2gb of ram is the norm

I have a dual core Intel overclocked to 3,7GHz and no problems at all... to me it sound like a graphic card problem. Maybe a driver issue?

EDIT: Also this could be a Vista thing because some people reported strange graphical errors with Vista and WAC3.0.
Nevertheless I could run it on vista64 without problems...

Sorry, I have 3 gigs. The MB I have can only take 3 or 6 sticks due to Intel's new memory controller.

I agree it's most likely a graphic problem. I tried loading WAC 2.0 and there were no problems. The problems in WAC 3 were mostly with the water, all sub interior graphics rendered fine.

I'm going to try changing the settings for my 2x Radeon 4850s. I recently updated the driver. I wish the Omega driver was available.

If you just notice it with the water. It might be because of the size of the waves. I read a thread regarding settings that can be made to make the waves smaller which helps make the sea look more realistic. However, smaller waves means there are more of them and each wave has to be rendered by your graphics card. Putting more of a burden on your graphics card. Just a thought but it makes some sense. If you notice the waves in stock SH3 they are big and rolling and sometimes a huge ship is resting on only a few waves. This makes the ships look smaller and bob up and down more like bath toys. Most mods have tried to add more realism by making the sea choppier so the ships don't bob as much and look more realistic.

Hmmm.
I too am having trouble with the map when I reach across to drag it sideways, the system freezes and requires a complete reboot. In my case however I'm trying to discount everything else before the processor based on that the same PC which I ran SH3 with GWX2.1 and SHC Commander, is now running GWX 3.

I was thinking maybe I missed something in the unistall/reinstall of SH3 and GWX2.1.

@shegeek72

Dunno if this will work for you but try dissabling SLI and see what happens. I'm running an Intel quad and np's however when I run in SLI (2x8800GTX) she don't run as well as a single card. Good luck.

Best regards.

Sapphire Radeon 4850 512mb GDDR3 x2

Antec 900 case
Well this may not help the graphics issue but if you alt out to your desktop after you start the game and right click on your taskbar go into taskmanager - locate SH3.exe - right click - left click set affinity to set a core.

Nice card in the list, wondering if your ccc is set up, overdrive?
Nice pc case btw.
