Type VII interior for dummies

Hey guys,

I'm having trouble replicating/creating the interior of a VII-C for a 3d model I'm creating. I've obviously played SH3, SH2, and have seen hundreds of pics but I need more.

I need someone, to put up a blueprint, cutaway picture, or a diagram of the interior of a VII full with instruments, wires, lights, cables, switches, hand wheels, etc. I need to know where goes where, what it does, the English/German names of the equipment, and the highest res photos you can find of it.

Some tips include but not limited, take screenshots of SH3, screen caps of Das Boot/U-571. Act as if I'm new to the sub world and wanted to take a tour of a VII but can't.

Pictures don't have to be in color, but nice illuminated pictures work really well.

--As you all SHOULD know, I'm working on a WW2 sim of my own, and getting around to adding fine details to the interior of the model, and need as much information as possible.

You can also try to get Buchheim's book "U-Boat War", which has quite a number of interior shots.

Those links are nice, but not exactly what I need.

What about a cutaway view of the boat, or something that shows each compartment and where it's located on the boat, and has all the equipment showing and easily recognized.

Well, there's always this classic from Stephen Biesty:

The Captain's Cabin/Radio Room area isn't terribly accurate, and I don't think any VIICs had a deck gun, a schnorchel, and that particular bridge configuration...but hey, it's from a kid's book! :rotfl:

I didn't see this link on the list: http://www.u-historia.com. This is a Spanish language site and I was unable to translate it using Babelfish. If anyone finds a way to translate this site, please post the solution. My abilites with the Spanish language are not the best (I learned my first Spanish from my Irish grandfather). On the main page of the site, click on the "Tecnica" link under the logo (3rd link from the left). A new menu bar will appear under the main menu; click on the "Visita Guiada" ['Guided Tour] link. This will open a large page of links divided into setions for each main section or operation of a u-boat and sub-divided into link for particular aspects of each section. Each link will take you to new page with detailed photographs with numbered captions for each major feature in each photograph. Some pages also include detailed color diagrams in addition to the photos.

There is much to be found on this site and I would suggest you explore the other links besides the "Tecnica" link. Whoever put this site together deserves many thanks and great praise for the effort they put into the site and for sharing this with the rest of the world.
