Default Can ASW warships see through land?

If I surface with a landmass between me and a destroyer, or other ASW ship...will they still be able to visually spot me?

I ask because, right now, I'm in a bad position...need to recharge but have a destroyer skirting around a spit of land. I'm hoping the land would mask my visual presence while I surface and recharge?

he he... not only can they see you through land masses, buildings and any other solid objects, but they can hear you on their hydrophones and use their sonar thru the same objects. You of course can do the same and track where they are. Silliest part is if they hear you they will come rushing along the shortest vector to reach you and end up beaching themselves or getting locked in stupid foward/reverse manourvre they find difficult to get out of.

Stoopid SH3 AI.

Insert Trix ceral joke here

SH3 AI is painfully oblivious, but unless you constantly raid harbours, you won't notice Dinsdale.

Ah...hrmmm...ummm...I'm parked just inside of the ship blockade on the 2nd northeast entrance to Scapa. The Hood and (reportedly) the Nelson are in there...and I intend to sink them. I know, I know...but I got a bit bored and decided to try it. It's September 28th. 1939...ought to be a piece of cake (where have I heard THAT before?) :p I doubt I'll EVER make it to 1941! :p

I managed to sneek into Scapa Flow at night on the surface (sept 39)put 2 torpedoes into the Hood and waited for all hell to break lose but not a single ship came over to investigate my presence.so I hung around to watch the Hood sink.......and that's when my 5 year old hard drive crashed.....these tommies they always get you one way or another.

Maybe they thought the Hood's crew was holding the mother of all parties.

I'll take a few of those too. I got the Nelson...but never touched the Hood. It wasn't until after I did a U-turn to point my ass end at her...with my last torpedo...that I realized why...freakin sub net. I kept getting minor damage during the U-turn and it wasn't until after my last fish exploded early that it all dawned on me . I never watched my original 3 fish salvo on the Hood...had to drop 'scope to prevent being gunned down. If I had I would have realized that the explosions I heard were not hits on the Hood, but on the net on her west side.

What I find interesting is that there were 3 Tribals and 2 V&Ws anchored at Scapa...and they never once made a move to get underway to hunt me down?? They would turn on search lights, launch star shells and shoot guns if they saw me...but they never raised steam and got underway to kill me? I was in Scapa all night...they had plenty of time to fire off and get underway. The only hunters were 2 V&W's already patrolling, which I killed in self defense .

Made it back to Wilhelmshaven without issue...

Now THAT's what I call "aggressive", . (where's the spell checker? :rotfl: )
