Default New Tactics

Ahoy, ive just been trying some new tactics in the Straights of Gibralta and thought I would share them.
Firstly I spotted an ASW trawler sweeping the straights whilst i was on the roof (surface) so i set to full ahead hoping to make enough noise and visual so it would come after me which it did. I then ordered my deck gun crew to engage at long range and successfully hit the trawler twice leaving the boat with no propulsion.
As expected the bigger boys came steaming out to find me, a couple of V&W ships and an A&B class, so I sneaked under the trawler and waited whilst the Royal Navy swept the area, once the enemy started to head westerly I then progressed eastwards through the straights wating until I was about 4000m from the sweeping ships and the wounded trawler, I then engaged her with my loaded stern eel taking her out in a mighty explosion and sending her down to Davy Jones's locker.
I then continued to sneak through the straights picking off various medium merchants on the other side of Gibralta.

You spent an eel on an ASW trawler? Seems like a waste of a torpedo that could otherwise have sunk a Large Merchant or an Ore Carrier.:hmm:

Fair point shipmate but my point being I used the Trawler as a distraction and needed her to stay afloat so i could hide under her whilst the enemy came searching for me, the stern eel was just a "goodbye" gesture from myself and my wunderbah crew as we sailed off into the sunset

Good thing you slipped through, and got rid of that trawler. But, as Annatar already pointed out, torpedoes are better used against enemy merchants.

I applaude your thinking but in gaming terms....had an escort picked you up it would probably have resulted in a different outcome.....hiding beneath a disabled ship is no mask for the games sensors.

Beg to Differ,I once stayed next to a crippled Merchant,
Surrounded by 6 Destroyers,no option,
so they were unable to pick me up,
Documented by other Multiplayers
in Multiplay,I Sunk all Destroyers,
They asked How the Hell did you do That?
Sorting a Solution after the 1st DD Kill,
I waited as the DDs came to same Path,
Hence the Silent Kill at 14mtr dept
next to a Stricken Merchant

Big difference between knowing where you are but being unable to get at you because of your position.

They can't make a pass to drop depth charges but they will fire K Guns if fittes.

The sensors ingame are even able to see through land......and lyong doggo on the bottom as was done in RL on occassion affords no protection either.

True, reason why
I put Scope up and down fast,
Standard peri-dept is 13mtrs
I prefer 14mtrs,to avoid Scope been seen,
using your sonar too

No need to. Just don't extend it all the way up, keep it 1m above the surface.

Crikey! Anathema! I endeavour to snipe at the enemy. Always the ninja; silent, undetectable, and outmanouver...
