Deck Gun Sound Issue

I've noted in 1.5 (stock) that the explosion sounds from deck gun rounds don't seem to run to completion. For example, say there's a single ship at a distance (4000 yards). I fire a round from the deck gun, it travels through the air for a bit, and hits the ship. I'm using the 'realistic sound travel' option, so there's a slight delay between seeing the explosion and actually hearing it. However, the explosion sound gets truncated at the end. It feels like only 1/2 or 2/3 of the sound plays (you can explicitly hear the sound stop). In other words, the explosion doesn't 'roll on' to completion (fading out) ... the sound byte simply stops playing. Has anyone else seen this problem? If so, is there a way to fix it?

Ive noticed this with RFB as well. It seems the further you are from the target the more chopped of it becomes.

So perhaps it has something to do with the game engine itself.

I get the same thing with the sounds of thunder during a storm. Seems the sounds cut off too soon:hmm:

It's a problem with the game engine. Best to leave the "realistic sound travel" option unticked.

I don't know how that could be screwed up. Operation Flashpoint had realistic sound travel times years ago and with almost no system drag.

Not exactly at the top of the list of game breakers for me.

At least they fixed the CTD key
