Default Academy reknown

Sorry to bring this old chesnut up again. I searched but came up with nothing.

My hard drive took a funny turn and I've had to reinstal GWX from scratch...again . I don't really fancy doing the academy for the nth time and remember seeing a way that you can edit a file to set yourself to having passed all exams. Could some nice person point me in the right direction please?

IIRC you don't need to do the academy anymore after installing GWX. I think you get the renown automatically when you start your career.:hmm:

Thanks but I just had a look and I'm only sitting at 500.

I had a feeling that would be too easy!

If i remember right you´ve to do one lesson only to get the full renown for academy. Time for some deck gun fun

Completing the navigation exam will give you an extra 1000 points, which will bring you up to 1500 (2000 if you start in 1939). It's probably the easiest & fastest of the Naval Academy tutorials if you want to get back into the game quickly.

just go to My Documents\SH3\data\cfg. and in there is a file called naval academy. open it up in notepad and do the following

[PLAYER]
Name=(your kaleun's nme here)
Rank=11
Exam0=true
Result0=1000.000000
Exam1=true
Result1=1000.000000
Exam2=true
Result2=1000.000000
Exam3=true
Result3=1000.000000
Exam4=true
Result4=1000.000000

then start a new career. I don't think its cheating, the germans had very well trained CAptains at the start of the war (where most everyone starts) and also, the rank isn't correct for a starting Kaleun, so thats what I did.

No, I don't think it's cheating either. I used to just do the Navigation Exam over again, but these days I don't even do that, since I never seem to use any renown anyway, as I always hire the cheapest (free) crewmen and rarely if ever upgrade anything.
