Yeah! I totally agree with the UVII first rank among all the submarines, for me too the UVII is not only a legend, but also the most brilliant submarine of the 2nd ww, who fought against the 2 best navys of the world in the toughest battlefield of North Atlantic. The cost/efficiency rate of the typeVII is still unreached as the allies had to make a huge efforts to counter the thrill, thus postponing their land projects (USA originally wanted to launch operation Sledgehammer in 1942, 1943 at the latest).
Anyway i may not be objective as i am a UVII fan, and i greatly respect the UIX fans who could reply that compared to their number the IXs had the best individual rate of sinking. And thanks to the IX for bringing back wonderful and sunny pictures from their mission in South Atlantic and Indian sea we can enjoy when they go back to France, as all we can bring back from our patrols in North Atlantic are dead bodies, torn hull and heavy rain pictures. ![]() |

I saw that show a few months ago on TV...
I keep trying out IX's but they just dont seem as fun as VII's for some reason. They're big, they dont turn quickly and dive slowly, but for me the looks are what does it. I find the VII's very elegant compared to the IX's, with all their curves etc... ![]() |

I don't know.... the documentary doesn't seem to be too reliable to me. 4 Diesels? I thought the Typ VII had only two... 9cm deck gun? I'm pretty sure it's a 8,8cm.
That might just be minor mistakes but in my eyes they lower the value of such shows dramatically.:hmm: But besides that: Typ VII rocks!!! ![]()

Those shows are often innaccurate in the details, Im pretty sure it only had two diesels as well, US subs had 4 though didnt they?
The 9cm vs 8.8 could just be rounding off... But at least they came to the right conclusion ![]() |

Agreed. I rather hunt in a VII with a top notch crew.

I sail with a VII as well. If I survive one more year I'll get to try the VIIC/41! Love that boat :P

Taken a handfull of 7's to the end of the war.
Tradded one in for a XXI, found myself using tactics just like a 7. Seem to preffer a VII over a XXI, all I realy did in the 21 was slab task forces of the coast of Norway.
